Psychic Vampires

"...a psychic vampire is not a blood drinker who knows what you're thinking or what the future holds in store."--VAMPIRES, The Occult Truth Konstantinos

No one seems to know for sure where Psychic Vampires come from.  Are they a fluke of nature?  Some kind of recessive gene passed down through the generations?  Perhaps it is passed down through reincarnation of the vampire's soul.  However they come about, a person cannot be made a Psychic Vampire.  They are born that way.  You cannot be "turned," or "embraced."

Psychic Vampires (aka. Psi Vamps or Psis) don't usually drink blood.  A Psi Vamp instead absorbs energy from those around them.  This energy is sometimes described as "pranic" or "life" energy.  Others would say that Psis draw in the emotional and sexual energy as well.  Whatever this energy is it can be drawn from various sources.  This can range anywhere from nature to people.

Most Psychic Vampires will instinctively draw from those around them.  If they are not careful loved ones can be hurt in the process.  Draining too much energy from someone will make them feel tired, week, and in some extreme cases ill.  Because of this, many Psis learn to develop skills which help them control their feeding.  Even then, usually whoever they drain the energy from will feel somewhat tired.  For this reason, many people will find a psychic vampire to be an exhausting person to be around.  However, an exception to this is when the Psi feeds off of crowds.  Then the effects are lessened on the other people so much they rarely know they are drained at all and usually won't feel the effects.  However, the psi gets enough this way to feel satisfied.

One thing that not many people realize is that a psi can take the energy that he/she needs to fulfill him/herself by drawing the energy from trees, plants, animals and "energy pockets" (also called by some as nexus points.  Although a RPG term, it describes it quite adequately).  As the Psychic Vampire gets to be stronger, they will be able to do this while not even in the same area as the energy source or nexus point.
